United Way of Navarro County's 2009 campaign theme is "Building Better Lives" and the campaign materials and our appreciation awards reflect this message.  You may use this them to create your own.  Weave your theme into campaign events and materials using the United Way Logo.  You can tie the theme to your company's logo, advertising slogan or industry.

Possible themes:

  • Football
  • Halloween
  • Circus
  • Sports
  • Olympics
  • Have a contest to select a theme

Promoting your campaign

Promote your campaign as a short, fun event that happens only once a year.  Inform employees of campaign dates and provide them with plenty of information using the following resources:

  • Group Presentations (use United Way representatives)
  • Letter from your CEO or Plant Manager
  • Posters from United Way
  • Goal posters from United Way
  • Local United Way video
  • Flyers with your company logo, too
  • E-mail and/or voice mail
  • Employee testimonials
  • Food and/or clothing drive for a United Way agency
  • Covered dish lunch or breakfast
  • Employee picnic
  • Company newsletter article or advertisement
  • Payroll inserts

Campaign Activities

Activities, when accompanied by education and the ask, make the campaign a fun event - something to look forward to.  Utilize these activities to raise awareness and morale:

  • United Way Day
  • Employee social event(s)
  • Halloween costume contest
  • Car Wash
  • Garage sale
  • Silent/live auctions
  • Raffles

Incentives

Utilize incentives to get pledge cards in early or to encourage participation, increased giving or department competitions.  Remember, people give when they are educated about the needs and the impact of their gift, but incentives are a fun addition to the campaign.  Suggested incentives include:

  • Paid time off
  • Reserved parking
  • Tickets to sporting events
  • Movie/theater passes
  • Company promotional items (t-shirts, caps, mugs)
  • Gift cards or certificates
  • Casual dress days

  • Display campaign results and/or awards prominently
  • Awards lunch/celebration
  • Social event hosted by CEO
  • Awards presentations at highly attended meeting
  • Employe newsletter announcements with photos
  • Thank you letter from the CEO or local manager
