Your Donations to United Way of Navarro County Make a Difference!

  

“Nearly one in every four children in Navarro County is living in poverty.”  (Source:  US Census Bureau, 2000 – 2004)

Head Start provides educational, health and family services to qualifying families.  Navarro County Food Pantry Ministry provides immediate food assistance to families in need.

 “One in three general residents said that someone in their household went without needed prescription medication, medical care or dental care in the past year.”  (Source: Navarro County Community Survey, 2007)

Family Service Association’s Patient Assistance Program helps dozens of uninsured and underinsured residents receive free prescription medications every year.  Family Services and The Salvation Army also provide emergency medical and dental assistance.

“In 2004, on-fifth (20%) of births were to teens aged 13 – 19, a rate which is 6% higher than the statewide average.”  (Source:  Texas Kids Count: Center for Public Policy Priorities)  

Hope Center’s WAIT Training Program offers abstinence education in all Navarro County secondary schools and Navarro College.

“In 2006, one out of every five Hispanic and African-American students in grades 7-12 dropped out (20 and 21%, respectively), rates which are four times that of White non-Hispanic students.”  (Source:  Texas Education Agency Accountability Manual, 2007)  

Boys & Girls Clubs’ Next Generation Project provides at-risk youth of all ages with tutoring and everyday leadership guidance.  VOICE, Inc.'s La Voz Para La Familia program helps Spanish speaking families work together to encourage success in education and life.  VOICE offers other programs to all Navarro County students that foster academic success through after-school and tutoring programs.  YMCA also offers After School Programs to students in all Corsicana ISD Elementary schools.
